- Handheld, battery
- Output
- Real-time vector
- Challenge
- Measure vector magnetic-field components accurately in a compact, battery-powered, handheld form factor built for industrial use.
- Approach
- Full electronic design around an STM32 microcontroller, with sensor conditioning, calibration routines, and firmware for real-time acquisition and display.
- Outcome
- A working handheld instrument that field staff use directly, with measurements stable enough for on-the-spot decisions.

Background
An industrial client needed a portable instrument to measure magnetic-field components at various points on equipment. Bench instruments existed, but nothing that a technician could carry to the machine and read on the spot.
What we did
We designed the full electronics: analogue front end and conditioning for the magnetic sensors, an STM32 microcontroller for acquisition and processing, power management for battery operation, and a display. Firmware handled sampling, filtering, calibration, and a readout the operator could interpret without training.
Result
The device works in the hand, on the floor. Field staff use it to take readings and act on them immediately, rather than scheduling a bench measurement.
Engagement details are adapted and figures are confirmed with the client before publication.
